Especially since Elements CS5, and this is a reappraisal after using Elements CS5 for a bit now, the price with the free version sometimes can be too much for a hobbyist using Photoshop to archive and/or digitally enhance scanned glass negatives or others negatives that include a process of chemical pre- and post-development. The ability to place transparency and other glass negatives, overlays or overlays (wooden lamination, etc.) from the scanned negative would be so much better in an overall design application.
