If you’re a beginner or looking for a basic editing package, you can’t go wrong with the Adobe Photoshop Elements. Whether you’re looking for an entry-level or mid-level program or have been editing your photos in Photoshop for years, the Elements release provides a one-stop shop for all your photo and video needs.
A bit of a pricey program at $129.99 monthly, this is probably the only choice for those on a tight budget, or for first-time Linux users. As much as I love new software without a price when it comes to my personal use, there’s also value in software that’s affordable for a lot of people, and not too expensive for power users.
With the ever-changing world of photography, software such as Photoshop Elements becomes less and less relevant to the everyday user. This isn’t to say that it isn’t powerful, it definitely is. It’s just not really that useful anymore for most of us regular mortals. Granted, this review was actually months ago (late June 2018), but I still find it remarkably useful, just not for my own purposes, and that’s a shame. I’m also not a fan of the any of the image filters. However, this isn’t necessary. Oftentimes, the best thing you can do is just use the RAW converter and develop that with Lightroom, although you may certainly use Photoshop for certain tasks.
